Beers are a nickel at O'Shucks Pub on International Drive

ORLANDO, FL - There are few things better in this world than cheap beer. And it doesn't get too much cheaper than nickel beers at O'Shucks Pub on International Drive.

Every Wednesday night from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. beer is exactly 5 cents.

Owner Bob Orlando started Nickel Beer Night at O'Shucks nearly a decade ago. It's a throwback to his partying days on Church Street in downtown Orlando. Back then, several downtown establishments - mostly notably, Phineas Phogg's - hosted Nickel Beer Nights.

Orlando wanted to carry on the tradition, and when you're the owner of the bar, you can do just that.

Here's how Nickel Beer Night works at O'Shucks:

Before you can buy a nickel beer (Coors Light or Miller Lite only), you must first purchase a mug. The mug is $9 and it's good for the entire year. The mug can then be filled up for a nickel. Most customers leave the mug in their car, Orlando said. His staff will wash it out and then fill it up.

While beer is only a nickel, the service isn't. Because customers are "basically drinking for free," it's a good idea to take care of your bartender, Orlando said.

At those prices, you can certainly afford it.
