ORLANDO, FL - Hearlie Mae Donaldson is about the sweetest person I've ever met.
She speaks slowly, loves making flower arrangements and didn't mind a stranger walking into her shop on a rainy Saturday morning.
Hearlie's Flower Box in Parramore was the first video featured on Orlando 60. She was the one who kicked off this whole project.
After walking into her shop and explaining Orlando 60, Donaldson was gracious enough to sit down for an interview. And she had a great story to tell.
Donaldson, who is in her 70s, opened Hearlie's Flower Box in 1971. A lot has changed in the Parramore neighborhood since then, but Donaldson and her flower business has remained constant.
Today, Donaldson does mostly funeral arrangements for area funeral homes. She works Tuesday through Saturday. When she's working on arrangements, she doesn't listen to the radio or have a TV playing in the background. She enjoys the peace of a quiet shop.
As she says in the video, "I love peace."
