Orlando Wetlands Park: Home to 1,700 alligators

Christmas, FL - Way out in east Orange County is a place that's home to more than 220 species of birds and 1,700 alligators.

The Orlando Wetlands Park in Christmas is a man-made wetlands system that essentially filters waste-water from the City of Orlando before it goes to the St. John's River.

The 1,600-acre park attracts birds, mammals and alligators.

There are trails all around the park and it's a beautiful place to get away from the hustle-and-bustle of Orlando. The park is about 25 miles east of downtown Orlando, but it feels much more remote.

If you happen to go to the Wetlands Park, be sure to bring a camera. There are lots of opportunities to snap pictures. The Wetlands Park is open year-round from sunrise to sunset.
